people...pipol

i have been exposed to a variety of people since i started working and i think i've seen them all...hell yeah! all sorts of people from all walks of life. sino ka sa kanila?

there are people who work just for the sake of money or fame, there are those who do it with passion to the point of sacrificing their personal lives...

there are people who will pull people down, there those who'll help you get up...

there are people who are so damn lucky, there are those who just can't get things right...

there are people who get what they want out of "chika", there are those who really work hard for what they have...

there are people who are so used to lying, you don't know anymore when they're telling the truth...while there are those who are brutally frank.

there are people who would do anything to get what they want, to the point of stepping on other people's shoes, but there are also those who don't know how to get what they want...

there are people who are overly egoistic, and there are those who suffer because of these crap...

there are people who are over-confident, there are those who are too modest you don't notice how intelligent they are...

there are people who are free-loaders, there are those who love to share...

there are those who go to work like they're attending a party or fashion show, there are those who don't even dress up decently...

there are people who love to eat, there are those who are weight-conscious and don't eat meat...oh how i envy and pity them? sa sobra atang kulang sa protein, pati brain nila na-drain!

there are people who are too shy to eat at a gathering, there are those who grab a bite from everyone's plate...how disgusting!

there are people who love to annoy people, there are those who allow themselves to be annoyed...

there are people who love to talk about themselves, there are those who love to listen...or forced to listen?

there are people who will try hard to belong to a circle, there are those who don't even know how to socialize...

there are people who know what directions to take, there are those who just go with the flow...

there are people who hide in their closets, there are those who are left wonderin' and spend their day trying to figure out...get a life people!

there are people who can't accept their mistakes, there are those who get their peers' respect because they know how to acknowledge theirs.

there are people who can get away with their meanness, and seldom are those who get punished for it.

there are people who think they know it all, there are those who are mistaken.

there are people who sincerely love you, there are those who'd claim they do but don't really mean it...

there are people who'll show up when they need help, there are those who easily forget you when you're the one in need...

there are people who observe and try to understand...and there are those who couldn't care less.

there are people who love with all their heart...there are those who just want to be loved but don't know how to give back.

people...pipol...different faces, different facades...but what's on their hearts and minds, no one can really define and understand.

people...(is that barbra singing in the background?)

penthouse...soon!

yes...i'm claiming it! penthouse-living why not?

actually, more than the material things i wrote in my wishlist, eto talaga ang WISH namin! i know God will provide! and soon, makaka-move in na rin kami sa condo unit na pinaghihirapan naming bayaran monthly! sana next Christmas na yon! sana...yihee!

shot taken from the terrace (buti na lang wala akong fear of heights)

Raph said he could see the Manila Bay from here...oo nga noh!

he won't definitely be lonely at the top! :)

haay tukso talaga ang sale! sabi ko ayoko makigulo! but then i had to buy some basics for the house, at nakabili na rin ako a few stuffs for my boys.

7. a new but user-friendly cellphone: hay naku natatakot ako na one of these days baka magcrash na naman ang jurassic motorolla phone ko

The Secret

I've read the book months back or early this year...but on my way back to Manila last Monday, I kind of read it again through the audio book on my ipod touch. I got so inspired again that I couldn't help but smile while watching the video. I'm referring to Rhonda Byrne's "The Secret."

My mind got overwhelmed with thoughts about my immediate goals, my dreams and aspirations and how i want to achieve them really soon.

From "biyahe", I went straight to work. I was still euphoric about the message of "The Secret"-- about the Law of Attraction, on visualizing your goals...that the universe is governed by the principle that "like attracts like" and that our thoughts are like magnets: Positive thoughts attract positive events and negative thoughts attract negative events.

So forward to studio taping... as it has been our habit to pray together before we begin taping, one of the staff, Selda led the prayer. I asked her to pray that someone would finally win the Pot Money or the 1 Million Peso-Jackpot in one of the 3 episodes that we would tape that very night. I reiterated that the prayer should be specific (usually we'd just pray for a big winner). The last time I prayed for a Millionaire weeks back when i led the prayer at the taping of Singing Bee, Manilyn Reynes won 1 Million! And guess what, that Monday night that we taped Game KNB, somebody won the pot money that stood at 750,000 pesos!

Of course, prayers could really do wonders. And I think it's not just about visualizing and attracting what you want. That "universe" being referred to in the book "The Secret"-- I kind of replaced with God. The Secret is not just about attracting what you want so that the universe will conspire and give it to you, but believing in the power of the Most High who leads the whole universe, and that is God!

Discovering My Multiple Intelligences

Just like Glenn, I've also wondered what types of intelligences I have so I followed suit and also took the test taken from the site called, Multiple Intelligences for Adult Literacy and Education.

Your top three intelligences:
Intelligence Score (5.0 is highest)

Description:

Language: 4.57

You enjoy enjoy saying, hearing, and seeing words. You like telling stories. You are motivated by books, records, dramas, opportunities for writing. Effective techniques of enhancing your learning using your language intelligence include reading aloud, especially plays and poetry. Another idea is to write down reflections on what you've read. You may also enjoy exploring and developing your love of words, i.e., meanings of words, origin of words and idioms, names. Use different kinds of dictionaries. Other ideas:

* Keep a journal

* Use a tape recorder to tape stories and write them down

* Read together, i.e., choral reading

* Read a section, then explain what you've read

* Read a piece with different emotional tones or viewpoints — one angry, one happy, etc.

* Trade tall tales, attend story-telling events and workshops

* Research your name

Body : 3.71

Body Movement: You like to move, dance, wiggle, walk, and swim. You are likely good at sports, and you have good fine motor skills. You may enjoy taking things apart and putting them back together. Incorporating body movement into your learning will help you process and retain information better. Here are some ideas.

* Trace letters and words on each other's back.

* Use magnetic letters, letter blocks, or letters on index cards to spell words.

* Take a walk while discussing a story or gathering ideas for a story.

* Make pipe cleaner letters. Form letters out of bread dough. After you shape your letters, bake them and eat them!

* Use your whole arm (extend without bending your elbow) to write letters and words in the air.

* Change the place where you write and use different kinds of tools to write, ie., typewriter, computer, blackboard, or large pieces of paper.

* Write on a mirror with lipstick or soap.

* Take a walk and read all the words you find during the walk.

* Handle a Koosh ball or a worry stone during a study session.

* Take a break and do a cross-lateral walk.

Musical : 3.43

Musical: You like the rhythm and sound of language. You like poems, songs, and jingles. You enjoy humming or singing along with music. You probably remember things well when they are associated with music or rhythm. Try to incorporate sounds into your lessons, such as using a familiar tune, song, or rap beat to teach spelling rules, or to remember words in a series for a test. Here are some other ways to use your musical intelligence:

* Create a poem with an emphasis on certain sounds for pronunciation.

* Clap out or walk out the sounds of syllables.

* Read together (choral reading) to work on fluency and intonation.

* Read a story with great emotion — sad, then happy, then angry. Talk about what changes — is it only tone?

* Work with words that sound like what they mean (onomatopoeia). For example: sizzle, cuckoo, smash.

* Read lyrics to music.

* Use music as background while reviewing and for helping to remember new material.

* Use rhymes to remember spelling rules, i.e., "I before E except after C."

Winner!

One afternoon, i picked up my son from school...i was surprised to hear "Congrats!" from other parents at the waiting area! I didn't know that Raph joined a contest that day...at singing contest pa ha! When he came out of their classroom, he was so happy! He kept saying: "I'm the champion!" and "I never had this before!" -referring of course to the trophy. Yup this was his first trophy, he had medals though before. Congrats anak!

When I See You Smile

This is an old song, but i only got to appreciate it when i heard it from Nina's new album: Nina Sings the Hits of Dianne Warren. Ganda ng lyrics! I told Raphael this is my song for him. It reflects how i feel about him, the words seemed coming from my heart. I asked him to listen to it while in the car, he liked it and asked me to play it again and again. So here goes my song for my Superboy...

Sometimes i wonder
If i'd ever make it through
Through this world
Without having you
I just wouldn't have a clue
Cause sometimes it seems
Like this world's closing in on me
And there's no way of breaking free
And then i see you reach for me

Sometimes i wanna give up
Wanna give in
I wanna quit the fight
And then i see you baby
And everything's alright
Everything's alright

When i see you smile

I can face the world
Oh you know i can do anything
When i see you smile
I see a ray of light
Oh i see it shining
Right through the rain
When i see you smile
Baby when i see you smile at me
Oh yeah

Baby there's nothing in this world that could ever do
What the touch of your hand can do
It's like nothing that i ever knew, hey
And when the rain is falling
I don't feel it
Cause you're here with me now
I wanna ask you baby
It's all i¹ll ever need
All i'll ever need

When i see you smile
I can face the world
Oh you know i can do anything
When i see you smile
I see a ray of light
Oh i see it shining
Right through the rain
When i see you smile baby
Baby when i see you smile at me

Sometimes i wanna give up
I wanna give in
I wanna quit the fight
Then one look at you baby
And everything's alright
Hey everything's alright
It's alright...
Baby when i see you smile
Smile at me

Q & A with Paige & Piper

The Questions were posed by Piper in her blog, and here are my pahabol answers. Sorry Piper for the delayed reaction. You know we’re alike in thinking that there should be 28 hours in a day…that’s how busy bees and moms we are!

QUESTION # 1: CAN LOVE REALLY EXIST BETWEEN TWO UNEQUALS?
Of course, if you won’t allow yourself to measure what the other person is lacking.

QUESTION # 2: WHEN YOU'RE TIRED, DO YOU JUST REST?
You rest…to regain the energy to face and resolve your relationship issues, but if it becomes a NEVER-ENDING cycle, I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ll burn out.
In my case, FAITH is what keeps me going! Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

QUESTION # 3: IS THIS CONDITIONAL LOVE? Magpakatotoo tayo, mahirap ang UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. May ganun ba talaga?

With God there is!... And I must say that parental love is also unconditional!
In romantic relationships…I’d like to believe that it’s possible! But I also believe that love is WORK! You are not actually setting conditions, but the other person should also realize that when you’re in a relationship, MUCH MUCH is required. How can it be REAL LOVE if ONLY ONE PERSON does the DOING and the GIVING?… IN REALITY...there’s a lot of sacrifices involved, a lot of giving, and a lot of letting go.

QUESTION # 4: WHEN SOMEONE DOESN'T EXERT EFFORT AND TELLS YOU "EH WALA AKONG MAGAWA"? Do you believe him?
I'm more inclined to belive that “kapag gusto, may paraan…kapag ayaw , may dahilan!”

QUESTION # 5: WHEN THAT SOMEONE TELLS YOU "intindihin mo naman ako" WHEN YOU FEEL THAT YOU HAVE DRAINED YOURSELF TO UNDERSTAND HIM, SHOULD YOU ANSWER HIM BACK AND SAY: "eh patayin mo na lang kaya ako!"
Heard the line? “LOVE me a little LESS, so you can UNDERSTAND me a little MORE!”
But there’s a thin line between understanding and tolerating!

QUESTION # 6: WHEN YOU SHARE A SUN LINE TO AVOID HEARING THE LINE "wala akong load eh" BUT YOU STILL HEAR THE LINE "eh walang signal eh", O ANO KA, ANO MASASABI MO DUN? HA? HA? HAHAHAHA! NATATAWA NA KO SA MGA ORAS NA TO.
Ano pa kaya susunod na maririnig mo? BRACE YOURSELF! On the other hand…e totoo namang minsan walang signal ang SUN! whoa! This is not me!
To make you feel better Piper, I have heard much worse! E yung… “Ay di ko napansin eh,” to think na apat ang telepono niya! At na-text at natawagan mo lahat yun ha… HAHAHA!

QUESTION # 7: WHEN YOU'RE UP THERE AND HE'S DOWN BELOW, GIVEN...TUTULUNGAN MO SIYA.

My other question is: why should there be someone UP THERE while the other is DOWN BELOW? You know what I’m saying? Someone has to bend while the other one should raise his head so you can meet at eye level!

QUESTION # 8: WHEN ALL HE SAYS IS HE MISSES YOU AND HE LOVES YOU FOREVER, DO YOU JUST HAVE FAITH IN HIM? YUN LANG HA. YUN LANG ANG PINANGHAHAWAKAN MO. HAHA. WALA NGANG EFFORT DIBA?
Once in my life, all I’ve wanted was to hear those words, to be reassured, to make me feel secure! But when it’s all you have, I’d rather that I feel those words through ACTIONS OF LOVE ! But it shouldn’t make the DOER feel he’s nag-EEFFORT kasi dapat AUTOMATIC na ginagawa, at automatic din ang reward kasi masaya ka sa ginagawa mo!
I’m reminded of something: the theory of 100 percent. I’m not so sure about this one…but Prue do you think that applies here?

QUESTION # 9: (eto medyo digging up the past ha, again, wala akong paki) WHEN HE THINKS THAT SAYING I LOVE YOU TO HIS EX GIRLFRIEND IS OKAY TAPOS ANG DAHILAN AY "friend ko sha eh" SHYET. MAY TATALO DUN? CGE NGA? YES, I TOO WAS STUPID TO GIVE HIM ANOTHER CHANCE. HAHAHAHA

Stupid? NO! Crazy maybe? What could be crazier than love?

QUESTION # 10: AT ETO KA, ETO KA. WHEN FACED WITH TWO CHOICES...A CHOICE BETWEEN PLANNING YOUR FUTURE, REUNITING WITH YOUR HONEY AFTER MORE THAN A MONTH, SCOUTING FOR POSSIBILITIES, EXPLORING A NEW WORLD, SETTING UP GAMEPLANS FOR YOUR CAREER, WITH FUN TRIPS AND HAPPY SUNSHINY DAYS vs. A GIG AT ICM WHICH HE ALREADY SAID NO TO, KAYA LANG SAYANG DAW KASI FASHION SHOW NG MOSSIMO, DEADMA NA KUNG MASAYANG ANG PLANE TICKET NA AKO ANG NAGBAYAD AT NAKABOOK NA THREE WEEKS AGO ....AT ANO ANG PINILI?

Hello? I mean haaaynaku naman!!! Ang masama don malamang naman hindi iyon ang gusto niyang desisyon…and what could be much worse than NOT having the power to assert yourself!

With all things said and done, my question now is…PIPER, Game Ka Pa Ba?

Those Were The Days...

Those were the days...

1. when 500 pesos-worth of diesel or gas can last you the whole week...NOW- 500 bucks is what you need to get your car moving for just a day.

2. when more than half of your monthly salary go straight to your savings account and leave it untouched for months...NOW- with a truckload of bills and monthly amortizations to pay, you barely have a decent amount left for savings.

3. when pigging out on your favorite food or sweets doesn't necessarily mean "bilbil" the following day...NOW- you have to be extra conscious because the reality is, your metabolism is getting slower, that to shed off the calories of a tall starbucks coffee latte and a caramel waffle would mean a half day of hard work in the gym

4. when friday or saturday nights are spent on some fun gimik time with college barkada...NOW- you barely have time to go out because you'd rather spend time at home to rest, that is if you have the luxury of time, or better just be with your family who often miss you even on weekends that you are at work.

5. when you can max out your credit card to spend on your indulges and not be guilty about it, you own your money anyway...NOW- you, or i for that matter, don't even keep a credit card anymore to limit myself on unnecessary expenditures and to simplify my life period.

6. when after work, instead of heading home, you still hang out and get your air polluted by your smoking friends, chika galore either with beer or starbucks coffee...NOW, life has definitely more meaning having found yourself always in a hurry to go home to be with your kiddo and hubby.

7. when friends can immediately drag you to anywhere, in other words "kaladkarin" ka pa no'n, catch the latest movie every week or play billiards until 5 am...NOW, going home at 5am usually meant you overworked or did "raket" for extra earnings.

8. when you hardly look at the price of your grocery items...NOW, i still don't compare prices, but i am starting to master the skill of pre-calculating my purchases so i won't go over the budget.

9. when you can go to your friends' house and sleep over...NOW, my little boy is the one asking me to bring him to his friend's house to play with them, and probably sleepovers aren't far behind.

10. when petty quarrels with your boyfriend make you already feel it's the end of the world...NOW, even when marital and parenting issues are becoming more and more complicated, still, it's business as usual! (which is a good thing huh!)you may argue or fight over something but at the end of the day, you two are still inseparable.

The list can actually go on and on! dami pa...next time ulit!
yeah...those were the days! gone where those days!
when life was way simpler...problems were less complicated...
BUT life for me is definitely happier NOW. more fulfilling. more meaningful. more reasons to say, I love my life! thank GOD!

My Favorite "Textmate"

Everyday, I would receive a text message from her- not the usual good am message or hi-hello but a prayer or inspirational message from the books of her favorites: Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, or Women of Faith.

I have been receiving daily devotional texts from Kris Aquino since December of last year. I remember the first time i got one, i texted her back and said thank you...she replied and said, "i have included you in my devotional group, after Cebu i realized that i've missed you!" She was referring to our taping of Deal or No Deal in Cebu. I wasn't really a part of the production team, I just covered for Ate Cecil, their headwriter, who couldn't make it. They also got me prior to that when Ate Cecil went to the US.

Eversince Edu Manzano took over Game KNB? last year, me and Kris had a separation of sorts, this after working with her on a daily show for 5 years, since 2002. Of course i missed her. And since we don't see each other regularly anymore, I'm glad that through text, we've remained connected. I also subscribed to her KText so that I stay updated about her. She's not just a textmate, she's my kumare (Raph's Ninang), and she's remained one of my favorite persons.

I've saved some of her messages that really struck me though some were erased when my cellfone crashed. Today our text exchange went on like this:

10:36am- Krisie: Joel Osteen- remember God's plans r for ur good. He has plans to prosper you & give you a future & a hope. He's a rewarder of those who seek after Him. As u open ur heart & allow Him to cover u w/ His righteousness, u will flourish and find success in every area of ur life. God bless u.

Me- God bless you too Krisie!

K: Waiting for my family to arrive for Sunday lunch. Happy Sunday Ruth!

Me: Wow that's nice! I'm sure nag-effort ka to prepare a really sumptuous feast. Enjoy!:0 M online, checking mails.

K: No ruth. Nagpa-cater. 2 wks ago na exhaust ako. Gastos na lang instead of doing cooking myself.

Me: Hehe :) Chef Bruce?

K: Chef Anton today. Thai chef.

Me: Aah! Enjoy your family day! Missed you!

I'm sure by this time, her family has arrived and went on with their lunch.

I'll end this with one of my fave messages I got from her:

09/01/08 KRISIE: Joyce Meyer-we should choose our thoughts carefully. We can think about what is wrong with our lives or about what is right with them. We can think about what is wrong with all the people we are in relationship with OR we can see the good and medidate on that. The Bible teaches us to always believe the best. When we do that it makes our own lives happier & more peaceful...God bless you!

Just a thought

Be surprised and amazed at what your heart can take, or how much your mind can offload and forget. Though it's never easy to handle pain, the fact remains that pain has a way of burning itself out, in time.

thank you...

having read G's latest post, i just wanna say...i am reminded again to be thankful for everything that God has blessed me with, for everyone who has touched and continue to touch my life in any way...

by the way Glenn thanks for putting importance on my previous post on gratitude...
when everyone else failed to be grateful and appreciative of things we are truly and sincerely happy to do for them, we should still be thankful!

here's my thank-you-list for the day:

1. the sweet breakfast moment and early conversation i had with raph this morning...
though i was so "puyat" i'm glad i didn't have to drag myself out of bed because i was just too glad to do it for my boy

2. hubby arrives tonight from HK, yey! and i'm glad i still have the energy to pick him up at the airport because...

3. we finished taping Singing Bee earlier than usual, and i had fun at work as usual

4. making it to the brainstorming at Stick before going to my ABS work...yey another project coming up!

5. having an "enlightening" talk (as G said) with my best buds piper and G...now we can leave "it" all behind us now. remember, happy thoughts!!!

6. for everything else...andami pa, i am grateful! God, thank you!

a song for piper & dreadsboy

they look so good together...they make each other happy...despite the distance, despite the differences...i guess love is what makes it possible! i'm now a BIG piper-dreadsboy fan!

i wrote this song during a "jamming bonding" with the Brownbuds... and the talented Brownbuds members El Cid and Echang composed the music right away...nicely done when i first heard it but i have yet to hear the complete arrangement. hope they get to record it soon! here goes the lyrics.

piper, would you like to give it a title?

I.
Hindi ikaw, baka ako
Hindi ngayon, baka bukas
Hindi pwede, baka sablay
hindi tama, baka mali...

Chorus:
Mali nga bang gustuhin ka/mahalin ka
Sabi nila hindi uubra
Mundo nati'y ibang-iba
Malayo...parang malabo
Pero di ako susuko!

II.
Hindi madali pero posible
Hindi okay pero swabe
Hindi mangyayari kung di susubukan
Hindi kasi ako ang tipo
na nagti-trip lang!
(Chorus)

III.
Hindi bagay, baka sumablay
Hindi ba pwedeng puso ay ialay
Balato n'yo na lang sa kin,
Pagbigyan na...
baka siya'y para sa kin!
(Repeat Chorus)

Bridge:
Hindi na bale...
Dedma na sa sabi-sabi
Tuloy lang kasi...oo totoo!
Hindi okay kung hindi tayo!

i miss...

my little patient

it's almost 6pm as i write this, and i can now look at my little patient with a smile who looks so peaceful in the hospital bed, getting that much-needed sleep and rest. the doctor said he can go home tomorrow morning. thank God! overnight his fever didn't recur anymore and various tests revealed positive results. i mean negative for dengue, typhoid etc. whatever viral illness had hit him that lowered his immune system, haay basta viral daw and uso sa kids these days.

it was just yesterday when he had the most difficult time as the pediatric resident doctors tried to extract blood from him for the third time, the last one was thursday night, when he was first given a CBC test. grabe the retaliation he showed! doctors said he has the making of a good lawyer. no one can beat his verbal delaying tactics and no amount of pambobola can convince him. one of the resident doctors told him she would just apply a magic ointment in his arm, and he kept saying: "i want to see it first" so i told the doctor to just show him something parang props lang. haay grabe! still it didn't work. and he kept screaming, "mom i'm scared, let's go home!" everytime, i'd say "di ba you're a brave boy?" he'd go: "no, not anymore!" hehe whose kid isn't afraid of injection? and that time, they had to extract at least 20 cc of blood because of multiple tests that had to be done.

haay my heart was bleeding, if only i could just be the one to undergo all those stuffs. i'd take all needles for him. thanks to ninong jillmer who visited just in time for this "ordeal." raph requested: "ninong will hold my hand and mommy will hug me"...until the whole process is over! afterwhich, raph said that he doesn't want to be a doctor anymore because he's afraid of blood. he's contemplating on becoming a lawyer after hearing it from the doctors hehe...

this is the first time he was ever confined in the hospital. first he had fever and next thing he was already vomitting. it happened after we watched HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL ON ICE last sunday, but in the previous days he had already on & off fever that's why i brought him already to the ER last thursday as out-patient. he was immediately sent home after his fever has subsided and CBC test showed negative for dengue. grabe i was so worried! especially that his dadu was still in cebu that time. and scary talaga 'cause dengue is fatal.

but yesterday...haay, kakatuwa! when i stayed beside him the whole day and didn't attend my taping anymore, he said happily: "sarap talaga ng may mommy, look gumagaling nako!" aaaaawww! sweet! and he would request for occasional kisses and hugs from me.

now that his health has improved...we're finally heading home after 4 days here at st.luke's...and hope not to be back here again for whatever illness. yes he has a health card but it's not something you would wish to use even if you pay a large sum for it.

"urban legend"

it's been more than a week...but still can't get over it!

to the one who caused me to feel so bad about myself, about my worth at work, and questioned my capability...how dare you??? classic ka talaga magpahiya ng tao! the last time was a stupid comment...i thought sorry would make me forget it! but why did you have to embarass me again?

for a moment, i struggled with my self-esteem...for a moment, i wanted to quit, and not face you forever...but i am standing proud! haharapin kita!!!
